Overview of Online Committee Responsibilities

The Online Committee is responsible for bridging the gap between in-person attendees and the global Django community tuning in remotely. DjangoCon US, mostly a hybrid conference, brings together hundreds of Djangonauts yearly to join from around the world through an online platform, watching live streams (talks/tutorials), engaging in chat, and participating in virtual activities.

This committee ensures that the remote experience is as welcoming, organized, and engaging as the in-person one. The committee works closely with the A/V Chair, the Volunteer Committee, and the DEFNA board to select and configure the online conference platform, recruit and manage online moderators, and coordinate all digital-facing activities during the event.

Past platforms used include Venueless (2024/2025). The platform is recommended by the Online Chair in collaboration with the DEFNA board, and may change year to year depending on community needs.
